Assumption College San Lorenzo | Safer Space for Face-to-Face

Over the past few months, we have seen a decline in COVID-19 positive cases. With this comes a renewed sense of hope for the educational sector, especially for our children, the students, as schools finally reopen.

This coming school year, Assumption College is gradually reopening for limited face-to-face classes with its HyFlex Learning – a combination of hybrid & flexible class delivery that integrates in-class instruction, online synchronous sessions, or asynchronous content delivery. We know there is no such thing as zero risk – we acknowledge the threat of COVID-19 that continues to make our daughters vulnerable even when in college, that is why we need a safer space.

Subscribing to the Safety Seal requirements from CHED, we continue to operate safely through our multi-layered approach for strict health and safety protocols:

βœ… Close collaboration with CHED, along with active engagement with Parents & Guidance Counselors for this transition

βœ… Fully-vaccinated & boosted Faculty and Staff

βœ… Retro-fitted classrooms that observe proper physical distancing & ventilation, meeting the standards of CHED & the Department of Health

βœ… Proper mask use & hand washing

βœ… Staggered arrivals & schedule

βœ… Regular cleaning & disinfection

Our smaller school population & limited class size will allow for student engagement with less safety risks. Plus, our secure campus eases worry & mitigates risk of exposure & transmission. With all these already in place, we can guarantee a safer space for face-to-face.

Ramona Diaz bags a George Foster Peabody Award for Film “A Thousand Cuts”

Filipino-American filmmaker and Assumption alumna Ramona Diaz receives the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award for her film, “A Thousand Cuts”.

Under the Documentary category, Peabody Award jurors cite “A Thousand Cuts” for its astonishing success and chilling precision.

The award-winning filmmaker in her recorded message said, β€œβ€¦ ‘A Thousand Cuts’ was honored with the Peabody. It came at a time when I was questioning the value of filmmaking, the role of a storyteller at the time of massive disinformation. So thank you, Peabody. With this honor, I feel that the world is still listening. That what happens in a corner of this earth in Southeast Asia still matters.”

Congratulations, Ramona, on your well-deserved success! Your Assumption family is proud of you!

Philippine Independence Day 2022

On this day, we commemorate the Philippine Declaration of Independence from Spain.

Today, we honor the memory of our freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for our country. Today, we reflect on all Filipinos who, in some way or another, continue to sacrifice and stand up to many forms of tyranny and oppression and struggle to this day.

As Filipinos let us, be true patriots, love our country, and work together for a free, united, and safe Philippines.

Happy Philippine Independence Day! πŸ‡΅πŸ‡
